In a recent revelation, BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar presented findings from the CAG report, asserting that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal failed to provide a detailed expenditure report for almost ₹2 lakh crore.
Majumdar highlighted the absence of over 21 lakh utilisation certificates, amounting to more than ₹1.95 lakh crore, suggesting financial irregularities mainly within rural and urban development and school education departments from 2018 to March 31, 2021. Accusations included corruption leading to the halt of MGNREGA funds, with the former education minister implicated. Additionally, the TMC government reportedly omitted submitting Detailed Contingent bills (DC bills) for nearly ₹3400 crore, prompting criticism from the BJP and plans for an agitation.
